Frequently Asked Questions
What philosophy of counseling?
I approach counseling from a trauma informed perspective. Sharing the most intimate and impactful events, thoughts, and feelings can initially feel strange and difficult. I strive to create an environment for growth and personal discovery while remaining mindful of past hurts and potential emotional injuries.
What type of counseling techniques do you use?
My initial training was grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Over the years I have continued to train and now also practice using EMDR as well as other experiential and insight driven therapies. Additionally, I am a Certified Grief Counseling Specialist and a Certified Trauma Professional. I also have extensive training and experience in Chemical Dependency Counseling.
How much does a session cost?
I offer a free initial consultation to ensure that I'm the absolute best fit for you and your personal therapy goals. The cost of each subsequent session depends on the length of that session and the number of participants engaged in services. Individual sessions begin at $200 per hour. Family session rates increase $50 per additional family members participating in each session. Group therapy rates are $150 per hour, per person.
Where is your office located?
While this practice is physically located in Anchorage, Alaska I am able to provide quality mental health services in Alaska, Hawaii, and Utah via telehealth. No in-person office visits are required and all services are provided over a secure, HIPAA compliant, state of the art, telehealth platform.
